Trauma Toys
Toys of all sorts 8 to 10 inches in size is a
good guideline - these are used by ambulance and fire crews to give to children
who are caught up in accidents etc.
For our
Troops
We have been making balaclavas in DK yarn - dark colours - for the
troops to wear when asleep as it gets very cold at night in the desert.
We
have also had our stitchers making cool ties for use during the day - these have
gel crystals (used in planters to water plants) inside them so the soldiers can
soak them to keep cool in the heat of the day.
For Seafarers (taken to
the boats by the lovely chaplains from Apostleship of the
Sea)
Hats
Balaclavas
Fingerless Gloves
Scarves
Chicken
Coats
Little Hen have said they have enought for now but we are filling
another box ready for when they need them - pattern is on the
forum.
Wiggly Bags
our stitchers can always make more of these wee
bags for the IV's used for poorly children. Make sure the tapes are at least 1m
long ;0)
Blankets for animal shelters
- from small 15" squares for pussy
cats to giant warmers for Great Danes and Rotties - our animal friends love to
be kept warm. Some of the members have even made dog coats as well - great for
mutts who are recovering from nasty illnesses that might cause hair loss :0) We
also get lovely pet beds and our recent challenge includes nose protectors for
equines in Bethlehem and Palestine. Recent dog coats have been made waterproof
with things like shower curtain material so we could send them to Romania where
dogs are treated terribly.
We also need knitted or crocheted donkeys for
the donkey sanctuary - we have some of their wee tags that you stitch into the
back leg when they are done if you want to do some.
Obviously nice soft
yarns would be preferable for the baby clothing and hard wearing ones for the
blankets.
Operation Orphan
Priatelli
Right I think I have covered the majority of what we need at
the moment - I will add to this and update as required.
